Nick heads up the Property Litigation and Planning team in the firm's Bristol Office.

The team acts for a wide range of clients including property companies, financial institutions, developers and high street retailers and a full range of health and public sector bodies. The team deals with contentious property matters and planning and environmental law. It is very experienced in advising on all aspects of contentious property work including opposed and unopposed lease renewals and related compensation issues, dilapidations claims, rent reviews, service charge disputes and possession actions. The team advises on all aspects of planning law ( focusing particularly on the negotiation of planning permissions and related statutory agreements, planning appeals and environmental law) and environmental law ( with particular expertise in waste and contaminated land issues).

Nick is very experienced in dealing with both contentious property work and planning and environmental matters. Nick represented the successful Respondent in the Court of Appeal dilapidations decision of Holding and Barnes v Hill House Hammond Limited. Nick's transactional planning and environmental work has focused in particular on section 106 Agreements for large scale commercial and health related development and advising clients on environmental liabilities arising out of the sale or purchase of brown field sites. Nick has also acted in planning inquiries and judicial review proceedings and has handled the defence of a number of listed buildings prosecutions.
