Lorraine Carolan, Partner

Lorraine qualified in 1990, having undertaken her training contract at Eversheds. In 1994 Lorraine moved to the Wansbrough Willey Hargrave Birmingham office to develop the Birmingham office in the Insurance arena to become the top rated firm for dealing with Defendant Personal Injury work in the Midlands.

Lorraine has always worked in the area of Defendant Personal Injury and specifically focused on dealing with very high value multi track claims — both Motor and Liability which had grossly exaggerated elements to them.

In February 2004, Lorraine was asked to head the Firms National Claims Validation Team. This team is responsible for all aspects of fraud work to include motor, EL and PL. Lorraine's overall major responsibility is for the business development, management strategy and growth of the Claims Validation Team nationally which acts for the firms major Insurance Clients.

Specifically, as well as dealing with minimal impact/significant trauma cases; staged/contrived/ringed cases, Lorraine's focus has been on tackling those behind pursuance of these claims i.e. Claims Farmers/Solicitors/Medical and other experts. Lorraine has established close links with the Law Society, General Medical Council and NCIS in order to tackle these parties. Lorraine specifically focuses on indemnity/regulatory and professional rules of conduct in connection with fraud work as well as advising on technical/policy issues.

Lorraine has carried out extensive fraud training both internally and externally.

Lorraine is also a member of the Firms Risk Management Directorate which focuses on looking at risks/quality on a firm wide basis.
