Kiran Bhogal, Partner

Kiran has broad experience in medico-legal issues and in advising on health and public sector matters. Specialist areas include mental health law; the law relating to children; complaints handling; complex and sensitive inquests; risk management; clinical and corporate governance; serious untoward incidents; medical ethics (including consent and confidentiality); patient care issues; emergency applications for declarations of treatment; Human Rights Act 1998, and the Data Protection Act 1998.

Kiran also has extensive expertise in handling substantial medical negligence claims and has advised Trusts and PCTs on corporate governance issues; controls assurance; commissioning decisions, community care and policies. She has provided training to PCTs and their Boards on the legal framework within which they operate.

Kiran is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi and Swahili and has an understanding of Urdu. She became a partner in 1998.
